There's this 'Abstract Topic' in quite a few discussions that crops up and so I considered it bringing it to this Blog.
When I was young, Black and White represented Darkness and Brightness, slowly the shades of the shadows of Black and the Creaminess of White started having meanings.
I often associated Black with evil and white with purity. In fact, brands and names still build their markets on this differentiation.
The definitions of RIGHT and WRONG seem to change as we grow up; sometimes, we even stop considering categorizing acts into Black or White.
How significant really is this categorization?

well we have been brought up with this narrow way of looking at things as in good and bad and labeling everything according to it ...for me good and bad are not absolute and so hold no meaning in terms of finding the truth....a good for one specimen may be bad for the other and vice versa but life isnt that when we humans are suppose to be the grey made out of both black and white then we have meaning ....it is what shade of grey that u want to be that u have the free will to choose about.....if u look at the philosophy of lord shiva(duality)and understand it then shall the maya(false pretence) be removed .....
all of ur blogs has the same quest?understanding duality...u have been mesmerized by the dualities that exist everywhere....in nature.
the absolute is what u want to understand and for that there is a hugh amount of grasping required....a whole lot of thinking and reasoning and believing....
Hi Enigma,
Nice to see your comments.
I am not aware of Lord Shiva's philosophy of duality.
I would really appreciate if you throw some light on it.
Absolute? In fact, there s this conflict between 'the Absolute' and the 'temporary'?
We often forget to priortize and give immense importance to the things that are not permanent or absolute...
well if u know about duality(western philosophy)its the same thing....everything has 2 absolute nature.and they may be classified any way...for example-light has both a particle as well wave character...and light can only be understood fully if u understand both...but u cannot get 1 explanation about both the characters together....it is the same with any and everything..in this universe and our dimension....
refer to the latest theories of science and they are still baffled...take for example string theory.....
what do u think about doubt??do u think its a positive thing or is it a negative characteristics??
check out my blog-viveksubba.blogspot.com
the duality of absolute and temporary is the relation btw them...they cannot exist without each other...they are the 2 sides of the same coin...they have been created by comparison with each other and complement each other...
"doubt" can be taken Positively as well as Negatively. Taken in the positive sense, it leads to the generation of new ideas and better understanding of old thoughts.
Well, the person to whom the doubt is addressed could take it in the negative sense, especially when s/he does know how to clarify the doubt
thats what...it can be both and it can be none........but the perception and usage make it right but both are irrespective of result.and the purpose here is again doubted(pun intended)lol
then hw is it that u choose btw the two when u certainly have to???
try crying when ur genuinely very happy.....
Why did u mention crying here?
its an expression-but try it practically and why is it so weird that i said crying??
Crying eases out strssed emotions, rejunevates but, when I think about it, crying is an expression of helplessness, of acceptance of what is happening without any questions
look i have smething for u....read it...the whole story-
"If only there were evil people somewhere, insidiously
committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate
them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line
dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human
being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Because it emphasizes mindfulness of our thought-processes, Buddhism
encourages us to be wary of antithetical concepts: not only good and evil, but
success and failure, rich and poor, even the duality between enlightenment and
delusion. We distinguish between the opposing terms because we want one
rather than the other, yet the meaning of each depends upon the other. That
sounds abstract, but such dualities are actually quite troublesome for us. If, for
example, it is important to live a pure life (however I understand purity), then I
need to be preoccupied with avoiding impurity. If wealth is important for me,
then I am also worried about avoiding poverty. We cannot take one lens without
the other, and such pairs of spectacles filter our experience of the world.
What does this mean for the duality of good versus evil? One way the
interdependence of good and evil shows itself: we don't feel we are good unless
we are fighting against evil. We can feel comfortable and secure in our own
goodness only by attacking and destroying the evil outside us. If you want to be a
hero, well, occasionally a natural disaster will do, but the best thing is a villain to
battle. St. George needs that dragon in order to be St. George. His heroic identity
requires it. And, sad to say but true, that is why we like wars: war cuts through
the petty problems of daily life, and unites us good guys here against the bad guys
over there. There is fear in that, of course, but it is also exhilarating. The meaning
of life becomes clearer.
What a beautiful explanation! I really enjoyed reading it.
The existence of Good and Evil in the same heart makes enough sense to justify the control and refrain of the latter in order to make the Good win. Implying, we should 'cut' our own heart- call it disciplining.
And when we learn to manage our inner self, the need to fight an external enemy takes a backseat...
