running after yet running away

Strange as it seems we all are running after something in life to run away from someone.
The gal next door is working so hard to earn money so that she doesn't have to be financially dependent on her hubby... In a way she is running after money to run away from dependence.

and another guy is running after clients to gain maximum leverage. basically he is not interested in settling down at a meager income. he happens to be chasing money to avoid compromising comforts later in life........

BUT
the question is are we cowards who refuse to face the challenge of accepting the situation bravely and be contented with what we have.

After all, if we get over obsessed with something, we would finally start hating it....

WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY WANT?

We actually want to have a mindset that makes us to lead a happy life what we had today in our hand.We should stop running after money for better living.I think meditation will change our life definitely.

Love your blog! Keep going! It makes me think and look deep within!

The one question that comes to my mind: can the running away or towards actually be a part of our real self? Are we right in assuming that any state of mind other than being contented with the situation in our lives is not real, not true and cannot be our basic nature?

What if our basic nature was to be restless, to be attracted to one thing today and another tomorrow? In the same vein, what if getting obsessed with something and then later hating it were also part of our 'real' self? What if this is precisely how we all were?!

Is a person who refuses to accept his/her situation in life, and be contented with what already exists, a coward? I guess the other way of looking at this is: no change is possible without the desire for change. So then is desiring anything wrong? I wonder...

The million dollar question that you pose, Nancy! 'What do we actually want?' Can there be any fixed answer to this question at all? Can one really answer this question once and for all? I think not! We want different things (what other word can I use?) at different times. Often, when we do get that which we keenly wanted at one time, we don't want it any more!! Strange, na!

I agree with you in all aspects. Different things catch our fancy at different times and yes, what we desperately desire today might not even matter after we finally get or acquire it. Again, we'll be cowards if we refuse to face the upcoming situation....

But,
the fact remains we are avoiding some things in life, running away from them and then looking for those that appeal to us.

So, Nancy, is there a constructive way we can use this information? That we are running away from some things and towards some others? Does awareness of the fact that we are avoiding things make us better cope with our lives? Does it empower us in some way? Does this knowledge or realization provide us with a 'path' towards becoming better human beings? What say you?

Life is not about 'running' for me. . its about 'flowing'... And I know that my idea of a 'bright future' [ may be the very next moment] is not as great as the one decided by Creator.

There are really very little op tons other than 'flowing'.. You gotta breath, eat, sleep and work to meet your ends right.. You gotta do something .. no matter what! 'Ennui takes birth from Uniformity... and that is the worst nightmare one can have..

What we want: We want to keep ourselves BUSY ( really :-) ) And we want to flow like we are doing it by our own will!! And this is possible.... effortless!

@shar - I feel our basic nature is to be restless!! 100 percent true for me.. Without 'motion' this universe will cease to exist.

And those who are contented are not COWARDS. Take it like this - 'One who has got max is not the richest.. One who needs least is the richest!!'
