Politeness

I have often noticed people in service centers respond in the most polite manner, with full courtesy and a smile - friendly and warm that does wonder to calm the irate customers; much to the benefit of the company they work for.

Then, I often feel have we ever tried applying this magic to our lives?
Why can't we control that snide remark, the sudden spurt of anger or the killer look in our eyes while dealing with people known and unknown?

Hi Nancy! What a nice thought this is! People embodying patience and compassion, ready to be polite and understanding and empathetic in day to day life!! Lovely... But I wonder if it is at all possible for anyone to be like that at all times. Some thoughts about your latest post...

Are these polite people just doing their job? Or do they really feel like being nice and polite?

Secondly, would these people be like that even at home or with friends? Or would their 'real selves' be more visible in a more relaxed, non-professional situation?

Thirdly, is it even possible for anyone to feel nice and 'magical'all the time? Even when they are not under the duress of a job?

Fourthly, if that were the case, would we start feeling that this nice exterior that we are being shown is but a front and hence phony? Would we much prefer something more 'real', something that reflects more honestly and transparently the inner state/mood/situation?

It is a sweet thought, nevertheless, isn't it? Lots of love and caring overflowing from people, in a sort of random act of kindness that Oprah talks about in some of her shows...sigh.
